Spice Painting

Art has never smelled so good with this spice paint. It gives kids the opportunity to describe what they see and smell while having fun and creating a masterpiece.

This activity is completely customizable and you can use whatever spices you have in your pantry.

All you’ll need is

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp nutmeg

  • 4 tbsp of flour

  • 1 tsp of salt

  • 2- 4 tbsp water

  • 4 Bowls

  • 4 Spoons

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour and water together till it makes a paste.

  2. Divide your flour and water paste into 4 bowls

  3. All 1 tsp of spice to the individual bowls

  4. Mix well till it’s all incorporated, you may need to add a few drops of water if your mixture is too thick.

The food safe paint is great for kids who love to put everything in their mount… which is every child.

How to extend the activity?

While painting encourages your child to smell and feel the paint and use words to describe it. This is a great opportunity to introduce new words into their vocabulary such as spicy, sour, coarse etc.
