I’m sure you’ve all had a situation where your child is just not having it and they are losing their mind. And you're standing or rocking back and forth in the corner thinking what do I do?!
In situations like this it’s important to give your child space to let it out and express their emotions...if possible. Let’s be honest we all have bad days where we just feel like screaming.
Deep breathing has a physical effect on your body to help you calm down and lower stress. One of my go to strategies is teaching my students breaking techniques as a way to self-regulate in those melt down moments. Encourage them to take a deep breath in (Smell the roses) and a deep breath out (blow the bubbles).
